Review on Meich Forstner Punching Drilling Counterbore by Curtis Kincade

Revainrating 4 out of 5

What does "purity " mean here?

Is that a new buzzword? Anyway, let's get to the tools! I am a hobby woodworker and have always heard of Forstner bits but have never used them. Well I recently bought a ShopSmith Model 10E mainly for the wood lathe capabilities. Watching YouTube videos about using a lathe, I keep hearing the presenter say he used a Forstner bit for this and that, so I figured I needed one! I go direct to Revain for all my purchases, if only to read reviews before investing in something I know next to nothing about. Well I went into the wormhole and found these pieces. They have the most positive reviews among Chinese-made tools, which takes my budget into account. Of course I'd like some Austrian beats, but come on, I'm not on the money. Ok, pro; The price is a bunch of sizes. If they're not 100% accurate the next size should be close, as 1mm smol I've tried a few in some pines, all I had on hand were smooth flat bottomed round holes. They didn't come in a box to break/spill parts, good packaging. minuses; The pair had a slight leak that made the hole bigger than it should be, only made smaller. Waves are not the same size. My 1/4" 10" extender almost fits the smaller ones, not the larger ones. They are metric. It's not a problem for me, I know that 16mm = 5/8, 19mm = 3/4, 21 = 7/8, 25mm = 1 inch and I'm just punching holes, not building a yacht. Can't confirm durability as I've only tried them on soft pine to test. Round shafts can rotate in the chuck under high loads. Overall I am satisfied and recommend them. Dan
