Sharp Carbide for Hardwood

I bought these for a very reasonable price, I could use a drill press to add countersunk holes in harder woods like walnut, cherry and hickory. I have other inexpensive Forstner bit sets from Grizzly and other Chinese suppliers that are made of tool steel and have proven good for countersinking softwoods and piercing. These bits have very sharp carbide in all the right places to get the job done. They are good quality for the money. I will update this review when I have information on…

Decent quality, clean cuts in rock maple and bubing, not quite in 'case'

I had to run HeadLOK pan head screws into pieces of bubing and rock maple. I wasn't sure what the exact head size of the HeadLOK lugs was and when I measured them I thought they were 16mm, but I estimated the entire set cost about double the price of a single metric Forstner bit . On closer inspection, the accuracy of fit and workmanship are good, the drill bits work without hesitation in both the cordless hand drill and the drill. What does "purity " mean here?

Is that a new buzzword? Anyway, let's get to the tools! I am a hobby woodworker and have always heard of Forstner bits but have never used them. Well I recently bought a ShopSmith Model 10E mainly for the wood lathe capabilities. Watching YouTube videos about using a lathe, I keep hearing the presenter say he used a Forstner bit for this and that, so I figured I needed one!
