So push out the rubber section, then carefully use a saw to cut a slit on the inside, then trim off the outside edge and it should release enough pressure to remove. I put a nut and some washers between the lever flanges so it stays about the same when I push the new one in. Looking back, I welded some steel supports. As you press the 2nd, measure the overall width and try to stay as close as possible to help install the cross arm.
