we strongly recommend that you open this from the outside as it is spring loaded once the cable is disconnected due to it being coiled so tightly from the factory. When it unwinds, like a spring in a winding watch, a lot of dust comes off it and I don't know what kind of dust it is, maybe zinc, electroplating or some kind of oxide.
