we strongly recommend that you open this from the outside as it is spring loaded once the cable is disconnected due to it being coiled so tightly from the factory. When it unwinds, like a spring in a winding watch, a lot of dust comes off it and I don't know what kind of dust it is, maybe zinc, electroplating or some kind of oxide.

Great hardware fabric to create a small rodent proof fence. Be warned it is sharp and difficult to cut. The local hardware store didn't understand what I needed when I asked for "hardware cloth" but that's exactly what I needed.

I bought this net specifically for a dwarf hamster cage I built and I can say it is the perfect size net. The holes in the mesh are so small I can't put a #2 pencil through them and strong enough that a hamster can't chew through them. It also has a pretty good view, I have no problem seeing my hamster.
