We hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon as a family and camped at Bright Angel Campground near Phantom Ranch. There was no way we could take 2 tents, 6 winter sleeping bags, 6 mats, food and kitchen utensils with us. We paid for a team of mules to carry most of our gear down and back. This holdall was the size of a mule team and big enough to hold our bulky gear (we were traveling in January so we had plenty of cold weather gear). The bag itself is very sturdy and fairly waterproof. This was good for keeping our gear dry on the way down. It rained during the night, so our tents were wet and dirty. This helped keep the wet, dirty gear on the way back.
