Very pretty accent tile

I am very happy with the way my accent walls turned out in my bathroom remodel. I got the natural brown mother of pearl subway tiles to go with crema royal marble in my shower and tub surround. I laid mother of pearl up to the ceiling above one wall of the tub surround and behind two vanity mirror areas. I used glass tile mortar and bright white unsanded grout. I also used redguard on the drywall after repairing areas where I pulled off old wallpaper before I started putting up tile. So far it seems very secure and I scrubbed pretty hard to remove grout haze. These are not completely uniform and they are not perfectly level across the face- the uneven surface actually helps reflect the beautiful shine of the mother of pearl but be prepared for a more natural look rather than exactly perfect tiles and lines. I am an almost middle aged woman who has never laid or repaired tile or drywall before- I did this alone and I think it looks pretty good. Easy to cut with glass tile nippers and I smoothed edges of cut tile with a multi surface saw attachment on my dremel. It does create a lot of dust when you use a dremel to grind down these tiles so wear a respirator and goggles and cover your hair with a scarf or shower cap. I don't know if it was the tile dust or the grout dust that got kicked up when mixing but when I started this project my hair got really badly dried out- had to deep condition a couple of times and its fine, but better to cover your hair than have to rescue it!
