Review on AOC U2790VQ – 4K Frameless DisplayPort Monitor with Tilt Adjustment, Wall Mount, Blue Light Filter by Lasaro Pranata

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good budget 4K monitor but only 100% sRGB

**UPDATE ONE MONTH** Not only was I upset to find that the monitor was now over $100 less than what I originally paid just over a month later, but now the HDMI ports don't work at all more. Just a week ago I switched back and forth between DP and HDMI 1 port for streaming with no issues. But now? None of the HDMI ports. I connected several devices and nada. If I even try to use my Elgato HD60 S+ in said HDMI, the device loses the ITS signal and I have to disable the HDMI output and restart the device. So I'm deducting two stars from my original rating. It's a beautiful image, and if you want a cheap 4K display port and can get it for less than $300 (as of March 23, 2021), this monitor is definitely the way to go. But don't expect it to be the last. ****** So this is my second AOC monitor as the first one I ordered appeared to be the official World Cup ball before delivery. With that mini fan out of the way, let's start with the cons: I'd say it's definitely a budget 10-bit 4k. It has a lightweight plastic body, only 3 inputs (1 DP, 2 HDMI) and although it's 3/4 bezel-less, the display doesn't completely fill the screen. I mounted the monitor to a VESA desktop mount (the mount is a whopping 100mm, FYI) and I feel like I need to be extra careful when moving it. Another big issue is that the description of 108% sRGB is wrong; This is 100% sRGB calibrated on the Spyder5 Elite. This is where I'm most disappointed as I bought it for video color correction and other color ranges suffer (images attached). I know if I want an accurate range I really need to get in, but for now my budget has led me there. Yet. For €400 you could do a lot worse. To the eye, the image is bright and vibrant. I've looked at some 4k60 videos online as well as some 10-bit 4K GH5 footage I've captured and I'm happy with the presentation. I'll play it, but at 60Hz I'm mostly just looking for cinematic and responsive. there are problems and I want to keep records as accurate as possible. I put up with a lot of bullshit to finally get this monitor, it's only now thanks to my diligence in providing and close review.
