This is one of the best tools I have ever bought. I am a regular weekend mechanic and maintain my own fleet of 5 cars. I've always managed without special tools for factory-style clamps. I was about to build a water pump on my pickup truck and decided to splurge and finally give it a try. As you can understand, now I'm just wondering why I've waited so long. I almost vowed not to use these things, they work great. I replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses and reused the original clamps. They also worked great with small heater hose clamps and in some pretty tight situations. Regardless of the position of the clamp, I managed to attach the tool. I don't think the tool comes across as unreliable as some others have mentioned. It looks solid and is well built for its intended use. You'll need a strong grip to get them to fully open the large clamps, but the average person won't struggle. In general I am very happy with them. Even if I don't use it for a year or two, I don't regret it.
