Listen - MUCH better!

I finally switched to other brands because of negative reviews about the ratchet wrench in the old version of this set. I'm glad I ended up with this updated version, even if it's a bit more expensive. At the time of purchase, the difference was just over $5, but it was worth it. Now the difference is only $2, so it's not a problem. What do you get for the extra money? Also 4 additional metric sockets (4mm and 4.5mm, regular and deep sockets). It may seem like an odd size, but I already needed mine. The main difference, however, is likely to be the ratchet wrench. There was a lot of criticism about this in the old set - obviously you listened carefully, because here the wrench shows none of these problems. The ratchet has 90 teeth per revolution, so one click per 4 degrees. So far it has proven to be durable and reliable. However, I admit an embarrassing fact. At first I thought the key was broken because I couldn't put anything on the small ball bearing. I'm used to ball bearings being spring loaded and providing a friction fit for the bushings. However, I then found that the little button in the middle of the back of the ratchet head released the ball bearing, so everything fits perfectly now! Nothing can fall down as you have to release it with the button to release it. Ugh, I felt stupid until I realized the only other wrench I used with a knob was a few years ago, but there the knob released a lever to change the direction of the ratchet. The occasional movement of the little lever was a criticism of the old button, but with this new button I found that while it moved very slightly, it was still recessed enough that I hadn't accidentally stuck it yet. The nests appear to be well made. , like everything in this set, they are very sleek and well made. So much so that they might want to roll them up a bit in future sets to make them easier to hold with greasy/oily fingers? I really appreciate that the sizing is so clearly marked on them, although on me the sizing looks more like laser engraving than embossing. The case is actually useful! Usually blown cases have a loose fit on the parts, but mine was perfect with all the parts pressed together snugly but not too tight. The hinges and clasps were fine and worked well enough. As for the case, the biggest plus for me was that I had decent space for screws etc. Yes, very useful for that. Features a precision adapter that allows the 1/4" square drive to work with 1/4" hex bits. However, I do have one criticism/recommendation and many have noted that in their reviews. I thought at first that a wrench handle would also benefit from knurling, but I actually found I could hold it quite well simply because of its shape. Palms hurt after long use. Extension cords might benefit from knurling. Also, I know some people who like extensions as "swing bars" to give them a little wiggle room in tight situations. While the bars have some wiggle room here, they're not designed to wobble. This isn't a bad thing, as swing bars wear out very quickly if you try to use them as often as regular extensions. In any case, this set has a very good quality gimbal, so I really see little use for oscillating rods - Tekton made the right choice here too. Only in the most extreme situations, where you're ruining the tool anyway due to misuse, do you likely see a difference? As for me, I will apparently take 98% of this quality, probably for less than 10% of this cost. And one last moment. The whole set is pleasantly heavy to lift! I didn't realize how accustomed I was to the poor quality instruments I had grown accustomed to over the years, but once you get your hands on them you feel the quality. Everything looks very rich and well done. This set is the first Tekton product I have purchased but I am so pleased with it that I will be purchasing their letter and number stamps when I have the money.
