Fast and cheap

Hi. I've been building gaming PCs for almost 20 years. I'm an old salty seasoned techie and I want to tell you about the ASUS VG278Q. This is a great display for any GAMER looking for a big, fast 1080p 144Hz display. As you can see from my test photos, I also have an ASUS VG245H, so my review can apply to either display. I bought the VG245H as a PS4 Pro/PC display. It's been working flawlessly on both PS4 Pro and my PC for almost a year now. After I assembled a new gaming PC, I decided on the big brother VG245H. The difference between the two is the screen size and most notably the refresh rate. The VG245H is a 24-inch display with a 75Hz refresh rate, while the VG278Q is a 27-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Both displays have a TN panel. If you're a casual gamer and enjoy editing photos and videos, you might want to consider an IPS or VA panel. These TN panels don't have the best colors or contrast, but they do have one of the fastest G2G response times available. So if you are a competitive gamer, you should seriously consider these monitors. Try not to pay too much attention to reviews that claim these displays are great for gaming but terrible for everything else. These displays can be customized and calibrated to provide a great "all around" computing experience; via the monitor's OSD menu and GPU control panel. While they will never be as bright as IPS or VA panels, they can still be good for everyday computing. So take a little time dialing them in before you succumb to the idea that these "poor color reproduction" displays are "washed out". Tip: Make sure the RGB range in your GPU's controls is set to FULL and not LIMITED. panel. Both displays come with the same sturdy ergonomic stand. Who should buy them? Anyone looking for a fast, reliable and affordable display. Serious gamers who value speed over contrast and color accuracy. Who shouldn't buy them? Anyone looking for rich, saturated colors and lifelike rendering of movies and photos. So it depends on what is most important to you. If you like fast and furious gaming, this monitor is for you. If beauty and features are more important then you should look elsewhere and be prepared to spend more.
