Great microscope for high school students

This microscope is great for older kids who want to explore the microscopic world. Since we're doing distance learning this year, I wanted to add some microscopic science to our schedule. Then I can teach my boys the scientific method in a playful and practical way. Since my eldest is only seven years old, I go through all the setup steps and invite him to look through the eyepiece at the end of our lesson. The microscope comes with extra parts you don't need (including accessories for your phone). The instructions don't mention this contraption at all, but I've included a picture. It's a piece that looks like some kind of leg with a bunch of suction cups. I really don't trust this device to hold my phone and it's not necessary as it does the same thing as if you hold your phone's camera to the eyepiece and take a picture. I also don't like this bait because you forget it's with you and try to look at it and instead come across suckers (which smell like oil). It shouldn't contain this at all, which I think is a cumbersome waste. It does not include prep slides, only pre-provided slides. You must purchase your own preparation slides. However, the slides they contain are very fascinating and are made on a real glass slide. The magnification is incredible, I was able to focus on the 400x setting. I haven't tried the 20x attachment, but you can zoom up to 800x with it. 400x magnification is enough to take a cheek swab and see cheek cells! You can use three AA batteries or a wall plug. The light has different brightness settings and the option to use one, two or three LEDs to illuminate an area. It also has different color options (two example photos attached). I would recommend this microscope; it is durable and works well.
