Slippery focus and bad light

The microscope is very difficult to focus as the loupes are loose. You'll have to twist and unscrew the hanging parts to get them in focus properly, but they're very easy to lose if you accidentally hit the table because they're loose. At higher levels the light amplification wasn't enough, so I used the phone's flashlight from the base. The extra light on the side is a joke and only makes it harder to see around corners.

Excellent Quality at an Affordable Price

This is a great microscope for encouraging children to explore science, or even as an affordable tool for adults who love science. The quality isn't lab, of course, but considering the price, I was surprised by the power of the increase. The zoom performance is amazing and the images through the lens are crisp. You can either use the included power adapter or use batteries as a power source for transportation. The included slides are great for learning how to use a microscope and contain the…

Some premade slides, no blanks

This is a great entry-level microscope for home research. For starters, this microscope doesn't come with clean slides and lids or stains that you can customize for your own research. slides. However, it comes with an incubator, pipette, sample container, scalpel, circular cutter and long needle instrument. Since it comes with so many tools to create your own slides, I was really disappointed and weird that it didn't come with any forms. That's the only downside to this set. While you cannot…

Optical glass lenses, pre-made slides and LED for illumination

I got this to replace an old specular microscope and the LED makes your slides look so much brighter. It's a shame that I haven't changed my old microscope for a long time. The glass optics of this microscope are clear and easy to focus. I mostly use a 400x lens. Even at over 1000x magnification I couldn't tell anything else. Perhaps these increases have their merits, but they seemed redundant to me. The smartphone adapter seems a bit useless to me. I've tried it and it works great, but I…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was

Excellent microscope for beginners and children. Not too difficult to use once you get comfortable with the different dials and combinations of settings (zoom, backlight, focus, etc.). Instructions are on a letter-size page. I perceive this as eye irritation, but it is probably typical for all microscopes. It came with a full suite of sample-gathering tools, except it didn't come with slides. Without slides, the rest of the tools are debatable. It also came with a cellphone attachment to take…

Great microscope for high school students

This microscope is great for older kids who want to explore the microscopic world. Since we're doing distance learning this year, I wanted to add some microscopic science to our schedule. Then I can teach my boys the scientific method in a playful and practical way. Since my eldest is only seven years old, I go through all the setup steps and invite him to look through the eyepiece at the end of our lesson. The microscope comes with extra parts you don't need (including accessories for your…
