I embroider a lot and bought these as a prettier alternative to my tried and tested Fiskars micro tips with a blue plastic handle. I thought this pair would look better in all of my photos and they match the aesthetic of my embroidery art. They arrived in plastic packaging. I ordered the Black-Auspicious Clouds color and was a little disappointed to find that they are actually a glossy dark steel grey. The handles also arrived quite battered and there was a drop of oily substance on the blades. To open and close them, you have to make a little effort - they are not very smooth. I think that's what you get for $8! But they are sharp and cut through embroidery floss just as well as the Fiskars. So I will most likely be carrying my Fiskars for everyday use when embroidering on the commute to work and just keeping them at home for occasional use and as a prop in my embroidery photo.
