Review on Poit Digital Meter Tester Resolution by Gerald Reeves

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I can't verify if that's true.

Sometimes faulty. I put it in tap water after calibrating with powders and it was 7.9 at first. Well, within expectations. But then it would jump to 6.9, 6.6, 7.2 with the same tap water. I'm pretty sure my tap water (tap water; filtered groundwater from California's Crazy River, Eureka) doesn't fluctuate greatly. . Certain rules apply to acidified foods. And I'm getting some mixed results with it. Total pH +/- 2.0. And I can understand some fluctuations with the food, but not that drastic. The same batches of hot sauce have a pH of 2-4. I doubt my sauce had a PH of 2 and if it's 4 then I should add lemon juice until it's below 3.4 PH. I use a meat grinder and mix and blend the sauce very well. I have taken great care to keep the reader clean and dry when not in use. I cannot justify continued use of this reader. Either my samples are extremely volatile (I know they are not) or the reader is faulty. It really works, it does a great job of getting a rough idea of pH. But that really doesn't agree with what he said.

Pros
  • ATC function: ATC automatically takes temperature changes into account, which allows the counter to be more accurate.
Cons
  • Expensive
