Review on Flex Lite 31147 Adjustable Temperature by Richard Gross

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It works but has many shortcomings.

2 stars only, really wanted to give 3 or even 4 stars but with the element that is just as important as what controls your cooling fans. He has to be near perfect to really trust him and I can't say I do. This is my second controller, I sent the first one back because I thought it was bad. I could set it to 210 (5.7 liter TBI engine) and it ran, but sometimes it wouldn't turn on until 230 or even 250. It also ran for too long when actually turned on. If it caught fire at 210, it would continue to fall below 160! I spoke to Flex-a-lite and they told me it should be exactly within + or - 10 degrees if the sensor is mounted near the radiator inlet. They also told me that it should run long enough to drop the temperature 10 degrees and then turn off, not like I said before. Fast forward to my second. Still off but not as bad and it's much more consistent. However, it still runs for too long and adds extra wear and tear to my fans. The Ris product works, but not as well as most people would expect, especially with the Flex-a-lite name on it.
