Tefal (or T-fal depending on where you live) came out a few years ago with the Ingenio line. The main distinguishing feature of the line is the detachable handle. A large number of options have been added to the line. I tried the Preference and Expertise sets, both of which are suitable for induction cooktops. The Preference series is made in China and the Expertise series in France. I didn't notice any difference in construction or quality of materials; The only obvious difference is that French-made pens have red trigger buttons on the side, while Chinese pens are all black. The Preference line has a stainless steel exterior, stainless steel interior pots and pans with non-stick coating. Glaze. In the Expertise line, the outer surface (except for the base) has a black non-stick coating. I prefer the shiny stainless steel look, but a non-stick coating is undoubtedly easier to clean by hand in the sink. The sets come with plastic pot lids so they can be stored in the fridge. There are also glass lids with a silicone edge for use on the stove. The glass lids have a glossy system to smooth their handles. As a result, you can take four skillets, three saucepans, three plastic lids, and three glass lids, put them all together, and you've got a little under a foot tall! Easily fits on a closet shelf. The detachable handles are surprisingly well designed: With one hand, you can quickly snap them anywhere on the rim of a pot or pan. They hold tight so a full water pot can be easily moved around just by grabbing the handle. I tend to leave the handle in place for stovetop use, and then when I put the pan in the oven I stick it in and remove the handle. That way I don't need an oven mitt when removing the pan, I can just reattach the handle and pull the pan out. Works perfectly every time. In addition, thorough cleaning is possible without rivets inside pots and pans. The sets can be mixed - for example, the handle from the Expertise line fits Preference pans, and the dimensions of the two lines are slightly different. irrelevant for cabinet nesting purposes.
