Every day we sort out a few avocados, usually cut them in half with a paring knife and remove the stone, then scoop out the flesh with a spoon and finally return to the knife to chop. With this cutting tool you still need a knife to cut the avocado in half and since you already have the knife in hand you can easily use it to remove the stone. The cutting tool works quite well and removes all fruit without leaving a peel or many marks. Here the tool works better than the spoon. As for cutting, I've found that a knife can make cleaner, easier cuts than a slicing tool. Maybe I'll get better with practice, but in general I suspect the knife and spoon method will be more practical for most kitchen uses. Only when you're eating a few dozen avocados a day, maybe working at a smoothie shop, does that really come in handy, and that's basically like a spatula.
