This was my first encounter with a replacement set for circular knitting and circular knitting in general. This set got me hooked. I may never knit my straight pieces again. I bought this set based on the great reviews it got not only from Revain but also from other websites. As an advanced beginner knitter, after a few days of use, let me talk about some pros and cons of this set: Pros: - You will knit faster with these needles. I learned to knit (and learned to prefer) with bamboo needles, loved the touch and warmth. But they are not very fast. The plastic needles in this set are very fast. I transferred my bamboo shawl to these circular needles after I had too many stitches on the needle. I noticed a difference in tension and flow that really made my fingers and yarn fly. My husband even noticed how much faster I knit when he saw me working with it. I will continue to knit larger projects with these needles. These needles are excellent value for money. The quality of this set, in my opinion, is very high and worth the cost, and then a little. Although everything is plastic, it's very strong and hard, not soft or pliable (except for the cords of course). The cords are also of good quality. Plugs don't stick well. One of the reasons these needles are so fast is that the connectors are a pretty seamless complement to the needles. There are a few hiccups, but overall it's nothing to worry about. Connectors are reliable. I noticed that in the negative reviews there are issues with connectors loosing and projects loosing. I imagine how this could have happened if you had NOT had SECURE CONNECTIONS on the needles and cords. You really need to do a tightness test to make sure everything is tight, and this can be especially difficult with cable-to-cable extensions. That means once it's locked, it stays. As I said, I have a scarf on knitting needles from bulky yarn. This is not an easy project. I've run my butt stitch on these needles and so far nothing has come off. I cannot stress this enough: DO A LOAD TEST BEFORE STARTING YOUR PROJECT to make sure the needles and cords are secure. The instruction manual is very helpful and has some great tips on how to get the most out of the kit. There are some neat tricks that will make you a more efficient knitter. - Some other big wins: Made in the USA. Has a lifetime guarantee. Additional details are available if you are knitting very large projects or need to use very large needles. Cons: - Connectors can be difficult to secure and lock. This goes back to one of my pros, so I won't repeat it again. For my personal convenience I would like the needles to be longer by about 0.15 inch or so. The needles are not the perfect length; They are a little under 4.5". Perhaps I've wanted longer needles since I got used to straight needles. This is an absolutely wonderful set that has made knitting more enjoyable than ever. They will make a great Christmas gift for the knitter your life.
