The first photo may not look good without context. These are actually wild holes on my dipstick that needed caulking after moving the support bracket. The Pyrex dish provided excellent visibility. And it helped to avoid burning and destroying the probe tube. The second photo shows a fusion welded stainless steel boost tube (used and slightly soiled). This system pays for itself in argon savings and dipstick changes/landfill visits after the first few uses. What to look out for: Be sure to order the burner for your specific series. This shielding kit does not work as well as the very expensive ones. You can tell by the dull color of my stainless steel welds. This kit is for 3/32 inch diameter tungsten only. The smaller diffuser is actually too big for the small ceramic cups included in the kit. The cups supplied will break immediately if they fall down.
