Review on ๐Ÿ”’ NETGEAR ProSAFE FVS318N Wireless-N VPN Firewall: 8-Port Solution with SSL and IPSec VPN (FVS318N-100NAS) by Andrew Kay

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It works. in routers

So after thinking about buying it and reading the previous reviews I decided to give it a try. It's used in the second office, which is used once a week, so it's not as important as most of the others. Out of the box I did a firmware update to 4.3.4 and then proceeded with the general setup. As mentioned in other reviews, the firmware is slow and clunky, one can and should expect more from a professional/business router. On the other hand in this price range. Pros: All ethernet ports are across from the power button/plug and antennas, making it easy to wall mount. Once set up, the WiFi signal strength in the office is excellent. It's installed on the back wall of this office; and it's about 60 feet ahead over some walls. On several devices I received a signal with 5 bands. I thought I might need to add a repeater, but it won't be necessary. And finally, this is an 8-port router. Try to find something else, especially in this price range. Bad: It's an older and slower web interface. This really needs to be updated. It's nice to have VPN support built in, but this only adds to the legacy of the software assembly. I would have preferred if they had added the extra security of https etc but for the price and features I can't complain too much, overall it installed within a week with no issues. I will update in a few months.
