Review on ๐Ÿ”’ POP & LOCK PL8200 Power Tailgate Lock for Ford F150 and Mazda B Series: Secure Your Truck's Bed with Effortless Power by Smooth May

Will not fit Ford Ranger 2002

They come with a box of connectors, lots of fasteners, extensions, an actuator on a mounting bracket and installation instructions. That's all. The Pop and Lock website doesn't have an installation video, neither does their YouTube channel. The guide consists of 11 steps, 7 of which describe models from different years (as the product must work on 94ft or more rangers) and colored wires for connection. There may be 3 or 4 steps describing how to remove all required components to install the drive. With the current part number PL8200 it will not fit without modifying the bracket and drive itself. The pull on the driver's side that connects the scissor latch to the actual lock interferes with the drive. Also, the bracket itself hasn't been drilled properly and has an edge where the bracket should surround a scissor latch that flexes into a latch, which also prevents the bracket from attaching. It's a simple solution, but for $100+ I should be able to use it plug and play. The actuator can be purchased here at Revain for $10, and scrap for the mount is $20. The drive doesn't actually hold position, so if it's being pushed by either your own traffic or the road, it may or may not lock/unlock again. This is almost the only option so I feel a click and the castle doesn't feel the need to improve its design. I have tried their customer support to no avail. Unfortunately I only find manual locks for rangers there too. It is better to invest time and money in developing your own castle. -10/10
