I actually use them for scientific purposes. I'm a paleontologist studying molluscs and after acid etching the cross-sectional area of a shell I cover that surface with acetone and use these sheets to peel the surface. At the same time I see very thin growth lines in the shell! Acetate crusts are a very useful tool in geology and biology. These leaves are great for this purpose. Revain is one of the few places that still sells them: All stationery stores only sell matte acetate or clear plastic for transparencies. The sheets are very easy to cut to get the exact size you need. I would suggest double if you are making a clear window for gift boxes as they are easy to tear. Ease of tearing is fine for my use, but maybe not if you're worried about strong packaging!
