Review on PEPPER JOBS Portable Touchscreen Monitor with HDMI Compatibility by Selwyn Wooner

Great portable screen!

I was a bit hesitant when ordering this screen. When a product has too many features, it usually means there are a lot of compromises, with a deal breaker or two for good measure. I haven't found the latter yet. Which is good since it's not the cheapest portable screen out there. However, it definitely proves its worth. Pros: • Built-in battery, I was able to use the touchscreen for two and a half hours. • Touchscreen, works with my Samsung Note 20 Ultra via USB C, no problem. • Works to extend my laptop's display with DP over USB C, no problem. • Nintendo Switch gives out, no problem. • Decent visual quality, even with backlighting. • Includes a magnetic screen protector that sticks very well to the screen. • Quality packaging and added convenience. Neutral Qualities: • Visual quality is good for a portable display. Again for a portable screen. It doesn't compare that well to a $300 wall-powered desktop monitor, which is to be expected. • Weight depends on build quality, battery life, and material choices, but I like that it doesn't fall apart in my backpack. • The speakers don't have impressive sound quality, but they are and the volume is sufficient. • Bright enough for outdoor use, but ONLY bright enough. Can handle another 100-200 nits. Disadvantages: • Difficult? You've already set it to neutral, but if weight is a major concern for you then you probably won't like this screen. There are screens without built-in batteries that are significantly lighter. • Price. Other Thoughts: I've never heard of Pepper Jobs, but they have a few portable screens and that seems to be their main focus. I'm not sure how they will hold up if I need warranty work or support, but I don't know if I'll ever know if the screen continues to do what it's supposed to. Speaking of the screen, the colors are reasonable. Reminds of a very high quality TN panel, not IPS. I'm sure the color space isn't perfect, but I can easily see what's going on without being distracted by the color. Blacks aren't the deepest darkness, there's clearly no local dimming, but the backlighting is INCREDIBLE on my screen too. A uniform. I value consistency. I was very happy to be able to send Chrome Tabs directly from my smartphone (Note 20 Ultra) to this screen regardless of mirroring, without running the whole Samsung Dex. Because this display showed a different tab than the one on my phone, the touchscreen worked well for scrolling through pages and working with links, but the touch keyboard only appears on this display in 1:1 mirror mode, even if you tap empty. space on it. No problem if you use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, which is probably the case if, like me, you carry a portable screen in your backpack. I was surprised by the packaging for this screen. Aside from the outer packaging, the product has its own sturdy box and is held in place by two *large* foam inserts, ensuring the screen can take anything but the hit of a sledgehammer or ice pick along the way. In addition, it is also protected during transport with the included magnetic case/folio stand. There have been many supplements that probably cover the vast majority of uses. Travel adapter for charging, USB-C cable included, HDMI to mini HDMI adapter, USB-A adapter, Micro OTG cable all included. If you already have the cables you need it's a shame the price bumps up, but if you don't have everything then the good news is it's probably in the box. I am very happy with my purchase so far and will update this review if anything changes.
