Review on Voilamart 26" Rear Wheel Electric Bike Conversion Kit, 48V 1500W E-Bike Powerful Hub Motor Kit With Intelligent Controller And PAS System, Restricted To 750W For Road Bike by Timothy Harper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My wife smokes me going up hills now.

This is a powerful hub motor. I put it on as the drive wheel for a recumbent trike I got for my wife so we could ride together. I have a fat tire, all terrain tadpole trike with a 1000 watt mid drive motor mounted on the crank. I found her a sleek road trike and mounted it on the rear as the drive wheel. I also ordered a pair of axle torsion arms to connect to both sides of the frame- very important to prevent frame damage and structural failure. The instructions are vague about some important details, but you-tube helped. It was not too hard to install, but I do have some experience in this subject. At first she was dubious about the 'gift' I got her, but now she loves it and even went out without me when the weather was good. This is a powerful motor and I can not attest to the durability yet, as it is only several months old. If you purchase this be sure to choose a good quality battery and it may well cost more than the drive wheel. This motor uses a lot of power in its 1500 watt mode and if you want good range get a battery with more amp hour rating. I have two batteries (in parallel) on my fat tire trike and always try to use my legs to the max for full power. On our last ride she pulled ahead of me going up a long hill and was about 300' ahead of me. The controls are simple, basic, but the battery status gauge is not well explained in the directions, actually the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Wheel motor is great so far.
