After too many cold nights I've found that my animals don't like 66F and won't use the little blankets I bought them. My guess is that using blankets on exotherms doesn't make sense. I use this dome in combination with the iPower GLTIMEDWEEK timer and the BYB - 100W ceramic infrared heater to control the temperature of my animals that I keep in a mesh cage. The dome of this reflector heats up, but not enough to damage the top of the housing screen. I don't know what else to say. This is a strong, functional and durable reflex dome that works well in my current setup.
