My former body shop didn't replace the washer but instead decided to tighten the drain plug so much I needed a 1/2 inch ratchet and much trouble to lose her. Even after replacing the gasket, the plug leaked and the corners began to round. The OEM drain plug is tapered and mild steel, so rounding is a common problem. I replaced my OEM plug with this copper washer drain plug and it worked great. Just be patient when installing the screw. The magnet is strong and makes it difficult to slide the screw into the thread. With a little practice it's easy.
