Review on Walker 50065 Quiet Flow Stainless Muffler by James Martin

I needed a muffler for my jeep. I've read other reviews and was torn between this one or buying a generic muffler and some pre-bent parts and hand welding. I don't plan on keeping this Jeep much longer so I figured it would be the path of least resistance, but I'm not sure it worked. I can confirm the other reviewers are correct, this is what is displayed without the box on your door. Just a silencer with your name on it. Literally. Mine came with a flattened inlet on one side (see first photo) and some other imperfections. The inlet ID is very close to the existing exhaust pipe (which is generally a good thing, you want a tight seal), but I spent the better part of 30 minutes carefully tuning out what the manufacturer or UPS says. thought was a suitable approximation of "round" and still had time to get it to slide down the tube even with the mating surfaces properly prepared. Overall this muffler was a bit shorter than the stock (see second picture) but not so short that it would ruin anything. A bigger problem was the placement of hangers. The driver's side was fine, but the passenger's side was 2.5 inches too low (which would have raised the muffler 2.5 inches from the stock passenger's side). See the third pic. There isn't room under the Jeep to raise just the passenger side 2.5 inches, so this hanger had to be relocated. I was going to take a cutting wheel and cut the hanger and weld it back to the right angle, but I decided to try bending the bracket by hand first and it was pretty easy to get it in place, but I didn't bend the bracket , the whole bracket only rotated about 20 degrees where it was welded to the muffler body. If it were that easy to bend it by hand at the weld, I'm sure those hangers won't stay on the muffler for too long. It's just not attached properly. minutes, which was probably twice as long as it should have been, but it's done. tool, but it made things easier.
