These fasteners are very strong! I don't think you could find a better or more durable product. I have a nice vinyl fence with gates leading to a canal and walkway behind my house. The handle/latch system installed on my gate is good and does the job. . . most of time. He keeps the gate closed. But with its position, even my small children can open it without any problems. I could lock it from the back, but then I have to jump the fence to take it off if we want to go back there, which doesn't make sense. Rather than making changes to the current handle/latch I decided to install one of these latch bolts on top of our gates. It's big enough and offers enough resistance that my kids can't open it. Our gates are safe now. I open the bottom latch with my left hand and the top latch with my right. It was easy to install and should have lasted a lifetime. If not I have a second one in the garage ;) I HIGHLY recommend these latches. Just BUY!
