Ideal fence screws. Nails never hold very well and cause fence posts to wobble constantly as they are driven in. This weakens the base of the posts and can lead to weak and brittle fences that continue to loosen in the wind. Pan head screws hide in softer western red cedar. These screws, on the other hand, hold the fence slats securely without sinking into the wood. The construction is excellent, the threaded portion starts about a half inch lower than the top of the bar, and the threads extend beyond the bar meaning it's lighter and has better suction on the bars to the spacer. The head is essentially a pan head screw which provides a more secure fit. They also have a self-tapping tip to get you started faster if you're not pre-drilling. I used pan head screws in the beginning and quickly realized that they were buried in the wood. These screws are much better in every way. I replaced the original pan head screws with these.
