We used this in the upstairs hallway of our small townhouse. The "distressed" look is a matter of taste, but for us it brightened the upstairs because the rug catches the sunlight on our eastern window in the morning and reflects the overhead floodlights in the evening. And it fits in with the overall decor. It comes folded rather tightly, so is severely creased when you first open it. But without doing anything, the creases were almost completely gone at the end of the first day, and a week later it's almost entirely flat. It has it's own backing, so doesn't need a pad. I was worried that because, over time, I feared the backing might stain the wood floors below. But so far that doesn't seem to be a problem and I don't think it will become one. My only worry is that they recommend you don't use a beater bar when vacuuming. I can't figure out why, since this rug basically has no nap, so I'm going to give it a try. Otherwise, we love this so much we're looking at getting one of their other mats for the kitchen.
