I was waiting to write a review before it occurred to me to try the lighting feature. We had a power outage at school today so I was able to use the light during breaks! They worked well, the hooks come with a handy little wrench so you can easily turn them to lock or unlock them and no effort is required to pry the metal part out of the plastic. light is ok It lights up the project, but I don't know if it's because I'm holding it or if it's just because the ring at the base of the hook lights up, but I have a really hard time lighting it on shorter projects . I used hook number 6 with a fairly thick yarn and worked 5 loops before each twist and it was hard for me to see the next loop. I have a habit of holding the yarn with my index finger when inserting my needle, but even when I consciously held my finger back, the next loop was difficult to see. This added some light so it was impossible to knit in the dark, but I had to maneuver the crochet hook and use my finger to mark the loop with the light before making the actual stitch because the light wasn't wide enough. or wasn't bright enough, I'm not sure what will solve this problem. If you really want to crochet in the dark, I don't think that's a bad idea. It certainly helped a little.
