It is pressed in and does not come off easily
Use caution before removing the bushing from the gearbox that contains the filter. Make sure you can get the old one out before you screw it up. A few places said it wasn't necessary to change, but I went ahead and did it. It's dented in and not easy to get out, but once you mess up the old one it needs to be extracted.
