MAN Oh MAN how great I don't hear my wheel bearings being ground. The front right side was replaced 15,000 ago when I was in a hurry to get the car ready for vacation ($300) and while driving to work a few months ago I had my wife bring the Explorer back for the left stock . ($300). The problem hasn't entirely gone away. The store said it's not the bearings (both under warranty). So I drove it for a while to diagnose myself. Well, last night I changed the right front bearing with this part. Such a relief not to hear the roar. It took me 2.5 hours to change both front brakes (pads and discs) and replace this bearing. If you can swap brakes it's just 3 more bolts, a large hub nut (get the right nut!) This part was definitely designed to be swapped out. TIP: Remove the axle nut before attempting to remove the bolts from the back. You can then slide/tap/hammer the axle back over the hub to give you room to get a socket on those 3 bolts from behind. Friendly advice from your local Valvoline representative - WISH THESE THINGS HAD GREASE FITTINGS! THEN I would be happy.
