Review on High-Quality Black Oil Sunflower Wild Bird Food, 20-Pound - Morning Song 11407 by Shane Minter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

great songbird seed

Basically like most other sunflower seeds I've bought here or elsewhere. The throw that other reviewers have mentioned was not an issue with the gripping chucks which I now use to keep grakles and starlings away. They may try but soon leave as they prefer to perch and feed off the ground. Because of this, other hole eaters aren't great at handling squeegees, using their big legs to rake feed onto the ground and then gobble up 50 or 60 squeegees. Smaller songbirds, like all the different species of finches, titmice, wrens, titmice and even cardinals, enjoy littering to some degree. They sometimes chew it in their mouth like a toothpick. Sometimes they even fly away. Very entertaining. Black Oil Sunflower Seeds are a favorite of these birds among all the more expensive seeds I've bought. The only negative is that when I first bought this £50 bag from Revain I in early August, it cost $29. A few weeks later I went to buy another bag and it cost $46 and has gradually dropped to $38 by September 14, 2014. I bought a 35 pound bag at a big store for $20. The bottom line is that if you like smaller songbirds, black oil sunflower seeds are great, especially when placed in gripping feeders. I will try to post a photo of my feeders with this seed.
