Update 4/20: Early Readers: I originally ordered this article a couple of weeks ago to connect a spare SFP port on my Netgear managed switch to a Verizon ONT that was supporting my gigabit internet connection powered at home - I configured the VLAN between two switch ports to connect the router to the ONT. Then disappointment: he could not download data at a speed of 1 Gb / s. The router was downloading at 1 gigabit but could not output gigabit upload speed when an ONT was connected to this module. When I plugged the ONT into the switch's onboard port, the setup was able to do both gigabit downloads and uploads. The only difference in download speed reduction (from 1 Gb/s to 60 Mb/s) was connecting the ONT to this module. I returned the product, gave a 1 star rating and the seller contacted me. They were very sorry about the situation and offered to send me a second device to test. Once the second device arrived, I ran some additional tests against other devices on my network for comparisons. The upload speed when connected to the ONT was still 60 Mbit/s, but when connected to other devices it could transfer at a speed of 1 Gbit/s in both directions. I saved the SFP module simply by plugging another device into it. The support people for this seller have been really cool and I really appreciate them reaching out and trying to make things better. In any case, they care about their customers, which is not often seen. As for my bottom line, I really expected 100% full compatibility from this module with any gigabit devices I could put on it and I was disappointed that the device I tried to connect to it had such poor boot results. I liked the fact that the seller tracked this down and provided the support their customers needed. So I'm increasing my overall rating to 4 stars. --------------------------------- ------ -------Update from 15. April: After having problems with a slow connection, I was contacted by the seller's technical support and they tried very hard to find a solution to the problem. at hand. I'm awaiting the arrival of the second device to further verify correct operation. In the meantime, I'm increasing the rating a few stars to acknowledge their continued interest in solving the issue, despite the difficulties we're all facing during the pandemic. Once the second unit arrives I will update the railing again to reflect the actual quality of the product. Initial 1 Star Review: I just got this guy for a Netgear GS310TP switch to have one of its free SFP ports to connect to my ISP's modem. After setting up the VLAN between router and modem, I connected the modem to this module. The network connection was successful and I was able to access the Internet. However, after carefully reviewing the speed tests, I found that while the module supports download speeds of 1Gbps, it does not support downloads over 60Mbps. I double checked the internal ports of the switch and they were able to hit 1Gb/s on both boot and boot, as I was completely baffled by this discrepancy after isolating it from the module itself. I am very disappointed with this development and would appreciate if anyone had a similar experience or performed performance testing of the product. If I don't get a response I will ask for a refund.
