Bought a Ubiquiti Edgeswitch 8 Poe for myself. I'm not the most experienced when it comes to network switches and SFPs. Of course, when I plugged this in and couldn't seem to get the Pi 3, which I plugged in to check the connection, my first thought was that I was getting dirty. After some googling, I found that the edge switch only supports gigabit SFP ports, and that's not uncommon for SFP switches. So I connected my computer and in fact everything works fine. So the ad is a bit misleading…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Poor guide

SFP works well on 1G with UBNT transmission

I bought this device to use with Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8-150W with the initial goal of just connecting to a 10/100 device that no POE needed, and leaving all 8 POE ports open for my POE gear. Unfortunately, we were unable to connect at 10/100 speed with this device on this SFP port. It will cycle through the LEDs endlessly, indicating that it tried to set itself up, failed, and then tried again. However, when I switched to using this device for a 1G uplink to my upstream switch, it worked great

Pros
  • Long range
Cons
  • There are issues

Update 4/20: Early Readers: I originally ordered this article a couple of weeks ago to connect a spare SFP port on my Netgear managed switch to a Verizon ONT that was supporting my gigabit internet connection powered at home - I configured the VLAN between two switch ports to connect the router to the ONT. Then disappointment: he could not download data at a speed of 1 Gb / s. The router was downloading at 1 gigabit but could not output gigabit upload speed when an ONT was connected to this…

Pros
  • Easy to Use
Cons
  • Long Wait

Plug and play! But beware of static discharge.

First of all, the company has been very helpful, both in choosing a working model and in general with a quick and friendly response. The SFP module sent to me arrived quickly and securely packaged. I am using this module to add an extra port to my Allied Telesis X230-18GP Managed Stackable PoE Switch. The switch has 16 active PoE ports and 2 additional SFP ports. Without fiber optics, these 2 ports were not available to me. With QSFPTEK's Gigabit RJ45 plug-in, I now have an extra port that I…

  • Easy installation
