I was rebuilding my 100,000 mile Honda ST1100 and wanted to check the compression. I originally bought another Equus compression tester but didn't realize I needed a special adapter to make it work with my 10mm spark plugs so I had to send it back to buy this one. for money. In my case I used a 10mm adapter that screws onto one end of braided rubber tubing. The other end is connected to a pressure gauge, and then the adapter is screwed into the spark plug hole. The tester worked well and I think it was worth the money to make sure the compression was matched and within spec on all four cylinders. Worth the money paid for mind. For those of you using NGK spark plugs, the first letter of the spark plug is the thread diameter: A = 18mm B = 14mm C = 10mm D = 12mm J = 12mm So in the case of my NGK CR8EH-9 they have it a thread of 10 mm
