The reason it was needed: The Alpine ILX-W650 requires you to connect it to the car's parking (emergency) brake, and then tweak and release the brake to enable Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto, and everything else of value. The car's parking brake switch was virtually inaccessible without significant disassembly of the interior, allowing the MicroBypass to be easy to install and operate. Economical: This price can be justified either by the technical support, or by saving installation time, or by the ease of use. Totally worth it. Risk: As far as I understood and saw the implementation of the MicroBypass, this does not pose any danger to the head unit, as it merely simulates the grounding of the parking brake switch.
