Review on πŸš— Alpine MicroBypass Parking Brake Override Bypass Enhancer by Kevin Bucher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect technical support. Fixes an issue with Alpine brakes.

Kudos: Hooking this up to my new Alpine ILX-W650 head unit, my car stereo and MicroBypass support specialist Matt helped me out to solve problems with Alpine. Where I thought the problem might be with the MicroBypass (it wasn't), Matt made many patient suggestions in a dozen emails over the course of 24 hours to find out why my Alpine would freeze and restart every time it did connects to my computer. phone via bluetooth. Happy ending: In the end, my phone's support issue was with the Alpine firmware. To find out what the solution was, Matt walked me through the MicroBypass setup (I got it right the first time thanks to MicroBypass's clear instructions), the possibility of a bad USB cable to my phone (necessary for Android Auto on this one Alpine), and the possibility of low power. Matt patiently explored these options and more, using his experience and methodical dedication to find the facts. Thanks Matt and MicroBypass! Installation: simple soldering after confirming the correct connections. The reason it was needed: The Alpine ILX-W650 requires you to connect it to the car's parking (emergency) brake, and then tweak and release the brake to enable Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto, and everything else of value. The car's parking brake switch was virtually inaccessible without significant disassembly of the interior, allowing the MicroBypass to be easy to install and operate. Economical: This price can be justified either by the technical support, or by saving installation time, or by the ease of use. Totally worth it. Risk: As far as I understood and saw the implementation of the MicroBypass, this does not pose any danger to the head unit, as it merely simulates the grounding of the parking brake switch.
