Just didn't work

Sure thought it would work. I'm just trying to drill a 1/2" hole in my basement floor for an RF ground rod. EZZ, right? I first tried the star chisel I've used before and was very lucky. Tap-tap-tap. I bent the thing. sent back. Tried this tact. I'm 4" and it just won't go any deeper. With a good quality masonry drill bit, I've used the smaller cobalt blue bits before to good effect, but this thing just won't drill any further into the concrete. The house was built in 1971, I don't have any Any idea how thick the fill is, local contractors tell me it shouldn't be any deeper than 4" - they say they've seen it up to 2" thick, my good friend has his basement slab where the ammo boxes were stored, seriously damaged, but that's another story for another review - what gravel did they use then, diorite, granite, diamond? No, I don't hit rebar. I lowered the magnetic probe into the hole several times, it doesn't stick and doesn't pull .Is a Bosch bit 5 times more expensive?Probably. For pennies, for a pound.I'll save that for the day I need to drill cinder blocks. If that doesn't work,I know the AP 308 - cartridge will do. It just didn't help me. YMMV.

Pros
  • Masonry Drill
Cons
  • Wrinkled
