First, let me explain that I use the steamer several times a week. I regularly steam vegetables and rice and always use them for hard boiled eggs. I also occasionally use it for chicken, fish, and my grandkids' favorite food, hot dogs. So as you can imagine I was very disappointed when my old steamer finally gave up the ghost. It had been going strong for almost a decade, and now my challenge was to find something else that worked just as well. I did a lot of research before finally deciding on this model. It was a good decision. This vape is fully digital while my old one only had a dial. It has a delayed start timer that I can set from 30 minutes to 24 hours. The maximum steaming time is 1 hour, but I've only added water and reset the time when cooking tamales, which takes up to two hours. After the set time has elapsed, the device switches to "Warm" mode for up to one hour. If I'm not looking carefully and the water level gets too low, the unit beeps and displays "Lo". Adding water is very easy - just pull out the water tray and fill it. There is a viewing window so I can always see where the water level is. The two steaming trays stack on top of each other if you want to cook multiple things at once, or you can remove one of the trays and just cook one at a time. The rice bowl steams one cup of rice at a time. I've packed both bowls for steaming at times and have had no problem getting everything to boil at the same speed. A really nice feature is that I can stack both bowls on top of each other but remove the bottom from the top bowl. This gives me twice the vertical space so I can cook corn on the cob or tamales upright. I will update this review if I encounter any issues.
