REGULAR DISCHARGE AND RECHARGE IS THE KEY TO A LONG LIFESPAN.

professionals have no problem draining or draining these batteries to keep them in good condition. It's different for crafters like me who have 2 Paslode projects a year. I bought my last Paslode battery in 2006 and it's still good. The secret of nickel-cadmium batteries is to train them. If not used, most of these batteries will be dead in about 75 days. So I keep a calendar to remind myself when to charge them. If there is voltage left, I discharge it and then fully charge it. It's easy to make your own inexpensive discharge device. I soldered a small 12 gauge, 3 inch long copper rod to the sides of three 12 volt car tail lights. . I soldered another stick to the ends of the bulbs and attached + and - (black and white) wires to the ends of the sticks. I flattened the bare ends of the wires with solder. An elastic band or piece of electrical tape secures the ends of the discharge wires to the battery terminals. Do not leave the battery unattended. A fully charged Paslode battery will be empty in about 20 minutes. When the lights get too dim to see, I remove them. I cut a jig or template out of 1/2" plywood to fit around the end of the paslode battery, leaving a small notch on each terminal just big enough to slide the wires in and snugly into the terminals fit. That works great. Take care of these batteries and they will give you many years of pleasure. Hobby stores sell computer controlled chargers and dischargers for a variety of battery types, but most cost over $100. than $5.00. Do not pay in cash. Just charge it up.
