Works well as a decorative screw

I bought these to attach a decorative bracket to a cabinet. Since it's brass I wouldn't recommend it for holding heavy weights. Possibly a static weight of 5 pounds per screw, but I haven't checked. With them, your item will look more authentic than with a Phillips head screw. I recommend it for this purpose. If you're not used to using brass screws, I recommend using the largest screwdriver that fits comfortably in the slot. Also, be careful when screwing them. I pre-drilled a hole with a drill roughly the size of the smaller diameter of these screws. If you don't pre-drill the screw hole, especially in hardwood, you're likely to break the head of the screw. To select the correct drill, I held the screw up to the light and tried different drills until I found one where I could still see the outline of the threads but not the inner shaft of the screw. That way you're still gripping the wood with the strings, but not straining your head. I used them on pine. The harder the wood, the more you need to drill the hole but still be able to hook the threads.

  • Screws
Cons
  • Slightly torn
