Review on Safe View Waterproof Windproof Windshield by Todd Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Second purchase in 2 years: Would happily return to this product

Update November 2020: I used the first one with my Jeep Patriot for 2 years until the car was scrapped. Switched to a 2019 5th gen 4runner and bought the same size which has grown over the past 2 years. Here is an addition to the second test report: rubber bands on the doors feel more durable. Other straps are non-elastic, so even stronger to secure the cover in high winds. The mirror caps came with fluorescent tape as I suggested in my first review! They fit the 5th gen 4runner, but the sides are a little shorter than what can fully cover the windows. So I have about half an inch visible on the windows (see photo). It is still possible to open the doors without removing the cover completely. I would give a lot of credit for the shorter skirt length but knowing that this is the only half car cover option and how useful it is. , i will use it. It has become indispensable on my car trips. I put it on my car at night for privacy and isolation. I want the seller to make a camping version with a tent on one side! Old review: October 2018: I work as a field geologist in West Texas. So I'm always on the run, and my whole life revolves around the car. I try to keep the car as clean and cool as possible in the dusty, harsh desert weather. This case meets my needs exactly. Advantages: Easy to put on and take off, even in windy weather. It folds up so compactly that it can easily be thrown in the trunk of a car. Keeps vehicle cooler than standard reflectors (covers entire roof). Keeps some dust off the car, but not all. You can access the doors without removing the entire cover. Cons: Bindings could be stronger. I might have to replace them soon considering how strong the wind blows here. The laces are only elastic, there is no adjustable strap to tighten them if needed. I wish it had come with a compression sack (the kind of bag that a sleeping bag comes with) to pack it more compactly. Tips for users: stick a fluorescent sticker on one of the mirror pockets. That way you know where to start. With the mirror bag on one side, walk to the other side, put on the second mirror bag (this will protect the cover from the wind) and step back while unfolding the roof cover. After opening, take out the wipers and put the front end of the cover under the wipers to protect them from the wind.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
