The built in sunroof drains on our 2004 BMW X-3 were so clogged that every time it rained water would rise and leak into the floor and rear recesses. One of the back doors also leaked inward as water ran down the window and into the door. After almost a month of daily use I've decided that I prefer full protective cases. It's so easy and gets the job done. My only regret is that I didn't get it many years ago. I have leaks that have gotten worse this year due to rain and rust. Had I gotten this cover many years ago when the small leaks started, I probably would have saved my tracker's life for many years. It only takes a few minutes to put on and take off. Unlike every other car cover I own (full coverage), this one folds easily

**Updated 9/12/18** Has withstood winter precipitation very well. Rubber bands are of no use here either, BUT the material withstands freezing precipitation very well. The ice slid off the reflective material, didn't let water through between the cover and the car. Update November 2020: I used the first one with my Jeep Patriot for 2 years until the car was scrapped. Switched to a 2019 5th gen 4runner and bought the same size which has grown over the past 2 years. Here is an addition to the second test report: rubber bands on the doors feel more durable. Other straps are non-elastic, so even stronger to secure the cover in high winds. The mirror caps came with fluorescent tape as I suggested in my first review!
