I have been using Trendline Powerline products for many years. I recently purchased a version with WIFI over power line for my detached garage that is at least 300 feet from the house electrical box. Works great. ********Update***** OK the device started dropping internet every night and didn't hit the mark as I had cameras in the garage. Trendnet has a firmware update that needs to be done on this device that claims to fix the problem. I had major trouble updating the firmware and spent ages on the phone I guess to India. Here are some things I learned.1. The sending device must be connected to the wall and connected to the internet.2. Then use the laptop to connect to the TPL-430AP, a device with antennas. This works best in one room. TPL-430AP needs to be plugged into an outlet.3. They will tell you that you need a PC for this and not an Apple product. You are wrong. The problem why you can't run the management software with the Safari browser is NOT that you have an Apple, it's that the initial installation changed the default IP address, so the one given in the instructions is wrong. You need to use an IP scanner to find out what's on your network. You are looking for the "new" Trendnet address. Write it down. You can find the scanner in the App Store. I borrowed a computer from a neighbor and used the free one for Windows 10, but later plugged in my Mac and it worked like clockwork. You just need to know the address.4. The downloaded file must be unzipped. That means it must end with .IMG. If a file is listed as compressed, it has not been extracted.5. After downloading following overly simplified instructions, everything is ready EXCEPT 6. Once the download is complete, your previous cloning to your home router will be erased. You must do it again. Start syncing two Trendnet devices. Press a sync button and then the button on the other device.7. Now click on the clone button. You talk for 10 seconds, but it's too short. Hold the button down until the 2.4 and 5.0 band LEDs flash, then scroll up and press the WPS button on your home router. It takes time. they act slowly. Hope that helps.
