Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficient Granite Talon Tyre Levers: Expert Master Link Pliers & Quick-Link Chain Removal Tool by John Floyd

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great tool. Nearly perfect.

This tool is beautifully made and very functional. This works very well to break (remove) a quick link. Keeping a few sitelinks is a great idea and works well. At first I thought the teeth were too big for my 11-speed chain, but I quickly realized that it really does fit the 11-speed chain perfectly. As tire levers they are just as good as any I've used - perhaps too bulky for smaller road bike tires, but perfect for 1.75" or larger tires used on hybrid and mountain bikes. I was dying to give this tool 5 stars - I'm very happy with it, especially as it's 1/3 the price of similar Wolf Tooth chain pliers. I ended up deducting a star because it's just missing two very obvious improvements: 1) No reason both sides of a tool can't have quick connect holes. It looks like you can store one pair, but the other side can also have holes to store another pair. Maybe I can drill holes, but I'm not sure how the material will hold up and I don't want to ruin the tool. The tool fits together, the only reason I can see why they can't be flipped to pull (set) the quick link is because some extra ads get in the way. If they weren't, or if I could cut out that extra plastic, they would work for both removing and installing quick connects. You can also separate the handles and use a stick, rock or pencil as a prop between them to use the tool this way, but it seems so obvious that the function could be built in. Of course you can also pull the chain with the bike handle to secure the quick release, but I prefer to use a tool. In the end it's a fantastic tool for the price - I only wish they had added obvious and simple improvements that could make it PERFECT.
