It took me 30 minutes to remove the old fairing, install the new one and change the gas cap. In order to fit the new block flush, I had to think a bit and then, once the surgical site became obvious, lubricate the elbow. The hinge on the new block makes a loud click at both ends of travel. The noise is annoying but I can live with it as I only have to hear it when I'm filling up. All in all I couldn't be happier. UPDATE: The door spring broke 3 weeks after installation so I'm back where I started. It looks like you get what you pay for. I'll try to replace it under warranty, if it doesn't help I'll order another brand.
