The Hakko soldering iron comes with a pointed tip that heats something very badly. To solve this problem I had to increase the temperature of the iron well above the recommended range. When I tried to remove the Hakko tip, I found that the cylinder surrounding the heating element was stuck to the tip. I bought this set to be able to use one of the several chisel tips that came with it. Then I had to buy a new pen to replace the damaged one. I found a Chinese clone that works fine. The new spade lugs allow me to solder a variety of products, from point-to-point connections in LCDs to high power wires.
