With the switch in the neutral position, it installs easily. After watching a series of installation videos I will comment on how to do it in the real world and online. Heating the electrical connectors with a hair dryer (to remove them) helped, but the real trick (my own, no power tools required) is to sand down the screw shank (a lot) with a strip of sandpaper and DW40 spray. This allows the old part to gently disengage from the shaft and push the new part in without binding. Existing connection and no adjustments required. All functions of the rear lights work depending on the switch position. After a test ride and rechecking I can say it shifts normally. This was noticed due to an intermittent start when turning the key. Now the key every time turns the already replaced starter.
